Exploding Kittens Game Review

Spread the love

Hi! Jacob here, with my first game review. The game I’m going to be reviewing is called Exploding Kittens. It is a fun card game for kids 7 and up. With crazy cards like Magical Unicorn Enchiladas and Nopestradamus, kids and teens are sure to love the game.

How to Play Exploding Kittens

Each player starts with seven cards and one Defuse card. If you happen to have an Exploding Kitten or another Defuse card in your hand, you put it back in the deck and take another card.

When it is your turn, you can put down as many cards as you want. Each card has its own directions that tell players what they must do. To end your turn, you pick up a card from the draw pile. The game ends when there is one player left that hasn’t “exploded’ from an Exploding Kitten Card.

It seems complicated when you first see the cards, but once you start playing, you’ll quickly learn the game.

The Game Cards

The game has many different cards. Each of the cards has its own set of directions that players must follow. I will explain the various cards.

About The Exploding Kitten Card

Exploding kittens game

The Exploding Kitten Card is the card that can end the game for a player if they don’t have a Defuse card to stop it. There are four Exploding Kitten cards in the deck at all times.

About The Defuse Card

Card game

The Defuse Card stops an Exploding Kitten. It is the only way to stop it. Once a Defuse Card is used, though, it goes in the discard pile.

About The See The Future Card

The See the Future Card allows you to look at the top three cards in the deck. It is a very useful card because you can use it to see if there is an Exploding Kitten card or another one you want.

About The Nope Card

The Nope Card can be played at any time to stop another player’s cards. ( It can stop a player from using any card except a Defuse or an Exploding Kitten card.) If you or another player puts a Nope Card on a Nope Card, it becomes a yes. It is a useful card.

About The Skip Card

The Skip Card ends your turn. The best part is you don’t have to pick up a card. When you suspect there is an Exploding Kitten next, this is a good card to use.

About The Attack Card

The Attack Card forces another player to pick up two cards. Your turn is done, but it could force another player to pick up an Exploding Kitten.

About The Shuffle Card

The Shuffle Card shuffles the deck. You want to use this when you know there is going to be an Exploding Kitten next. It is also good to use if there are cards in the deck you don’t want another player to get.

About The Favor Card

The Favor card forces another player to give you a card of their choice. You will probably get a bad card, but you could possibly trick the other player into giving you a card you want.

About The Weird Cat Cards

Family game night

There are five different Weird Cat Cards:

  • Cattermelon
  • Hairy Potato Cat
  • Rainbow Ralphing Cat
  • Beard Cat
  • Tacocat

The cat cards are only useful when you can make groups of two, three, or five of a kind. Only then do you have special things you can do with the cards. For example, if you have two Tacocat cards, you can choose a card from another player.

My Thoughts on the Game

The Exploding Kittens card game is so much fun. The goofy, wacky cards are great! I love the pictures and the different things you can do with each of the cards. I’ve loved playing this game, and I hope you’ll like playing this game too.

Signed,

Jacob
