6 Spooktacular Halloween Activities for Teens

Spread the love

Halloween is coming. As it nears, I’ve had to make some adjustments. I’ve had to face the fact that the fun things my kids and I did when they were younger don’t appeal to them any longer. It is an adjustment as a parent that is a preschool teacher at heart. However, there are still lots of fun Halloween activities for teens.

Now with a teen in the house and one quickly approaching his teens, I’ve had to adjust MY definition of Halloween fun. Also, with all going on in our world right now, we honestly don’t know if Halloween will be able to go on as normal.

I decided it was time to make sure we have some fun Halloween activities for teens to enjoy. So, here are some ways to have fun this Halloween with the teens (and tweens) in your house.

Halloween Activities for Teens

As I mentioned before, we don’t know what Halloween will look like this year. So, here are some fun Halloween activities for teens to enjoy right at home.

1. Plan a Haunted Trail or Haunted House

My Scouts have decided Halloween must go on. To make sure there is Halloween fun, they have decided to host a Haunted Trail in town. They have got the town’s permission to use one of the park trails for this fun event. People will be socially distanced on the trails and have some spooky fun.

If you aren’t that ambitious (I certainly am not but the kids are doing it), allow you teens to create a haunted house in your garage, basement, or maybe in your backyard. You may be able to make your own haunted trail at home, depending on where you live. Friends or family can have fun going through their haunted creation.

2. Pumpkin Carving or Painting

Pumpkin carving or painting is a super fun Halloween activity for teens. Now that they are older, they can get REALLY creative with their jack-o-lanterns. They can make them spooky or super intricate with details.

Here are a couple of sites with ideas to inspire your kids.

3. Decorate the House or Yard

Let the teens in your house have fun decorating the yard or inside the house. They will have so much fun coming up with ideas. Will they go for spooky? Or will they go for a fun fall theme? Whatever they choose, they will love being in charge.

Your teens will find a bunch of ideas online. Here is one site to get the ideas flowing.

4. Halloween Activity for Teens: Movie Night

Some teens like scary movies. Others prefer more family-friendly movies with a Halloween theme. Whichever category your teen falls in, here are some movie suggestions to choose from.

5. Make Halloween Food and Drinks

Kids can try different food and drink ideas throughout the month or make a feast on Halloween day. Check out some of these sites to get ideas.

Your teen is sure to find something yummy to give a try this Halloween.

6. Halloween Arts and Craft Activities for Teens

Finally, for the creative teen in your life, there are still Halloween projects right for their age group. I know I love the painting site below. I often use it myself.

The great thing is if you have younger kids working on crafts for Halloween, your teen can join in, too. Here are a couple of sites to check out.

Halloween can be such a fun time of year. Keep those teens engaged in the excitement by trying out some of the suggestions above. Use your teens desire for independence by giving them some control over the fun your family has this Halloween.

Happy Homeschooling!
