EEME: An Excellent Subscription Program For Kids

Spread the love

If you check out my site (Projects and Activities) or any of my social media accounts, you would quickly see we enjoy doing STEM activities. Well, my kids tend to enjoy more of the Science, Technology, and Engineering aspects of STEM more than the Math. Though, they often don’t realize their STEM work incorporates math concepts, too.

On my Instagram account, I found out about the small company called EEME. It stands for Electrical Engineer Mechanical Engineer. They have a monthly subscription program which provides electronic kits for kids 7-12.

Now with my kids’ love for STEM projects, I had to check this out. I decided to become an ambassador for their program because I knew this would be a perfect fit for our homeschool.

EEME Subscription Kits

The First Electronics Kit

The first electronics kit arrived in about a week. Inside the kit, there were all the parts needed to build the project. There are no instructions, however. For the instructions, you need to visit their website.

The EEME Website

The website is AWESOME! You don’t just get a step-by-step tutorial on HOW to build the project, but you get complete lesson plans. The short video tutorials explain all the concepts related to that kit. Kids practice the concepts and do knowledge checks along the way to make sure they understand the topic.

Once the videos have explained the concepts, kids complete their project.

Our Experience with EEME Genius Light Kit

The first kit we received was the Genius Light. The Genius Light is a dimmer nightlight. The nightlight comes on when it is dark and goes off when it is light. My son was super excited about this.

Once the kit arrived, we went to the website and opened up the lesson for the Genius Light project. The first thing it has you do is complete an inventory of the parts.

After we completed the inventory, we were able to get started. The project takes about one to two hours to complete. You can save your spot in videos and come back at any time you need to.

Why so long?

As I mentioned above, the kids are taught ALL the electronics concepts not just how to assemble a kit. This is a winner for me right there.

The lessons had my son connecting and disconnecting wires to understand a circuit. He learned all about a breadboard, resistors, and photoresistors. Honestly, I did, too!

My son liked the little quizzes along the way. I did, too, because I could see he was learning the information.

We did the project in one sitting. When we got to the end, the light didn’t work. It had earlier but not now. I KNEW it was because my little guy rushed at the end and missed a step. So we rewatched part of a video and Viola! it worked.

Once the project was done, we took a picture and downloaded my son’s certificate.

Why We Like EEME

We like this electronics subscription program. Why?

  • It is challenging BUT made easy for kids to understand.
  • The lessons teach kids how and why they are doing something not just how to put it together.
  • The videos are well done and thorough.
  • All the parts needed to build the project come with the kit.
  • Did I mention, kids learn about electrical concepts not just build a kit! ( I had to mention this again because this sold me on the kits.)

Is it a good part of a STEM program?

YES!

The kits will fit nicely into your STEM lessons. Kids will learn about electrical engineering concepts but on their level. One person mentioned they thought this would be a great way to include dads in homeschooling. I agree.

I am pleased with this electronics subscription program. I could go out and buy some parts and build the kit. Honestly, I couldn’t TEACH the electrical concepts and have my kids understand electrical concepts well. That’s why I would recommend getting the subscription.

The EEME kits are a great hands-on science learning program for kids. If your kids love STEM activities, are hands-on learners, and like a challenge, this is for them. Check out the EEME website to find out more.
