Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

I’ve been reviewing 14:6-The Way from Scripture Memory Fellowship for the past several weeks. This program is a Bible memory course to help you memorize scripture. I used this course, and my 15-year-old daughter was my buddy to hold me accountable. I can’t wait to share more about this product with you.

For the review, I received a spiral-bound book of 14:6-The Way, along with some accompanying documents to help me get started memorizing scripture. The additional documents gave tips to help with memorization, obstacles people face, and information on VerseLocker, a scripture memory app.

There are two versions of 14:6 The Way to choose from. First, you have a choice between KJV or ESV. I chose the ESV for my family.

Once you have the book, you are ready to get started.

What is This Bible Memory Course 14:6 The Way Like?

Scripture Memory Fellowship describes 14:6 The Way as “an in-depth study of the doctrine of salvation.” The book’s title comes from John 14:6. I believe this course will work well for any Christian family.

This Bible memory course is broken up into 7 units. Each unit has four weeks of lessons.

The course includes these 7 units:

  1. Who is God?
  2. What Went Wrong?
  3. What Did God Do?
  4. What Did Jesus Do?
  5. What is Salvation?
  6. How Do We Respond?
  7. What Happens Next?

Within each weekly lesson, you may choose 1, 2, or 3 verses to memorize. The verses are Green, Orange, and Brown. You choose whether to learn Green, Green + Orange, or Green + Orange + Brown verses.

So, in all, this course contains 28 weeks. If you memorize all the verses within, you will have mastered 84 verses. However, how many verses you work on is up to you. You can choose the plan that is right for you or your family.

If you need a little extra help memorizing, there is an app called VerseLocker that may help. I started using it because I liked how I typed the verse in, and then it read it to me. Again, though, the app is not necessary. It all depends on your learning style. It is just a tool Scripture Memory Fellowship mentions for those that may like it.

Getting Started with Scripture Memorization

I really appreciated that Scripture Memory Fellowship provided an easy-to-follow guide for getting started. Take a look.

So, you follow those easy steps and are ready to begin. You can quickly work through and complete this in a week.

How I Used 14:6 The Way

For this review, I chose to use this scripture memory tool for myself. I added it to my weekly Bible study. It was just what I needed to give me focus.

I chose to stick with the Green plan, memorizing only the Green verse. So, when I finish the program, I will have memorized 28 verses.

My teen girl was my buddy for this review to hold me accountable. I would recite my verses each week, and she would mark off how I did. I liked how this Bible memory course worked in accountability as it did. For me, I needed that.

The first verse I had to memorize was Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

My 15-year-old daughter rolled her eyes at me because she felt I was taking it too easy. However, the verse was a little longer by the second week, so she gave me a pass.

During the review, I went away (completely off-grid) for a week of hiking and camping with the scouts. However, I didn’t want to stop the program while I was away. So, I wrote a couple of the verses in a journal (I didn’t want the book to get ruined on the trip) and continued to work on them while on my trip.

One day I had the chance to sit peacefully by the lake and work on my memorization. It was quite something working on Psalm 90:2 while looking over all of God’s beautiful world.

At the end of the week, I’d recite my verse to my daughter and then reflect on the questions provided for each weekly lesson.

Questions about your bible verses you are memorizing
Questions to get you thinking deeper about the verses.

I have not finished the program yet, but I will continue until I reach the end. After that, I will go back through and work on memorizing the other verses in this program. After that, I may look into the other books in the 14:6 series and work on those too.

Thoughts on This Bible Memory Course

I found this Bible memory course to be quite handy. It is excellent for people that want to start memorizing and digging into scripture but don’t know where to start. This program definitely gives you a starting point. Plus, it provides questions to help you understand what you are memorizing and help you reflect on how this will help you to live differently.

Also, I found the scripture memory Bible course very easy to navigate and use. It was clear and well laid out.

Another thing I liked about this scripture tool was how you could adjust it to your needs. You can learn one, two, or three verses a week. I had so much going on in my life that I started with only one verse. It was what I needed at the time.

Lastly, I like the spiral-bound pages of this book. The pages are like heavy cardstock pages, which makes them very durable. I don’t fear the pages will tear out. It will last for years to come.

Overall, I enjoyed this Bible memory course. It is well laid out and provides structure and the tools you need to understand the Bible. I recommend it for your Bible study or to use with your kids. I think kids could definitely use it and have success.
