Homeschooling is hard but with the right resources, it can be a lot easier. Recently, I was introduced to My Teaching Library through the Review Crew. I was surprised by how many homeschooling resources they have available! I am enjoying being part of their Download Club. My Teaching Library is now on my list of go-to resources.
My Teaching Library- Online Homeschooling Resources
Have you heard of My Teaching Library? I hadn’t, but I am glad to be a part of it. My Teaching Library is an online educational resource site. On the site, you can find educational resources for 0-Pre-K all the way through high school. You will find resources for all core subject areas plus many extras. It is great for homeschool families that have kids in all different grade levels.
On the site, I have found complete unit studies, full books to download, and notebooking pages. I’ve also searched through holiday-themed activities, puzzles and games, and classroom posters, too. The site has a lot to offer.
As part of the Review Crew, I received an annual membership which is called the Download Club. If you become a member, you can download all their educational resources without paying extra.
One nice thing, though, about My Teaching Library is you don’t need to be a member in order to download something you want. You can buy individual resources, too. However, my downloads have already surpassed the cost of the membership fee, and the school year has only just begun. A membership to the site is definitely a good investment.
Homeschooling Resources We Used in Our Home
For a little background, I am homeschooling a 6th and 8th grader. I primarily looked for homeschooling resources in the 6th-8th grade category or the 9th-12th grade category. With just the 6-8 grade resources alone, four hundred twenty-eight resources popped up!
Language Arts Resources
Since I don’t usually buy a reading curriculum, I began looking for resources in this area. I was not disappointed. I found comprehensive novel studies and literary companions. To start off, I downloaded The One and Only Ivan Book Activities. It contained comprehension questions, vocabulary, writing assignments, Venn diagrams and such. I thought the book activities were very good and just what I was looking for.
For my daughter, we had a few days before we were going to begin a reading unit. So in the meantime, I downloaded some Informational Text resources for her to work on. Each Informational Text resource was focused on a topic. I chose September 11 Attacks, Benjamin Franklin, and Samuel Morse. Each reading text was 1-2 pages long and had a series of multiple-choice questions. To finish off the assignment, she had short answer questions to complete.
I was pleased with the reading materials I downloaded and have a list of others we will use later on. I am especially looking forward to using some of the literature selections.
Other resources in the Language Arts category I downloaded are:
- Poems Teachers Ask For Volume 2– for our poetry memorization assignments.
- Daily Writing Prompts One Year Bundle- to mix up writing once in a while.
- Suggested Reading List By Level- to get book ideas for reading and read aloud.
- Children’s Literature- over 800 pages of nursery rhymes, poems, myths, fables, and more to add variety into our homeschool day.
- Reading Comprehension for High School- a high school comprehension curriculum with answer key. I will use this at some point with my 8th grader.
Other Resources We are Using or Will Use:
As I mentioned, My Teaching Library has homeschooling resources for all subject areas plus extras. Here are other resources we have used in our homeschool or are scheduled to use during our year.
- How to Draw Planes– My daughter used this for a fun art assignment one day. There are other How to Draw resources we will try.
- Visual Algebra Glossary– Who doesn’t need this while learning Algebra, or moms trying to teach it!
- Reading Strategies Posters- I have these posters to hang in our homeschool space to remind my kiddos of reading strategies.
Later, I plan on incorporating some of their educational resources for history. I found resources to go along with our Ancient history studies this year. They cover all time periods and specific holidays, too.
Also in history, My Teaching Library has A Day in History- Investigation Station. Kids research further something that happened that day in history. For example, September 9 was California Becomes a State. I think this is pretty neat.
If you want to add home economics into your homeschool, they have cookbooks, books on knitting and crocheting, and information on quilting. So even if you aren’t great in these skills yourself, they have some resources to help. I will be downloading crocheting since my son wants to learn this skill, but I am a knitter.
The site offers so much. I can’t begin to comment on it all.
Our Thoughts on My Teaching Library
As you can tell, My Teaching Library’s Download Club has been a big help to our homeschool. I have found many homeschooling resources to use with my middle school kids. I’m even excited about some of the high school material, too.
My kids have enjoyed the resources they have used. They didn’t feel like it was quick, busy work to complete. You know, a worksheet that has no substance to it. I know I’ve done plenty of them in my life. The educational resources we downloaded were quality materials. It added to our homeschool not fill a space in our day.
Overall, I would recommend My Teaching Library to anyone looking for a good site to find materials to add to or fill a gap in your homeschool. You can find materials for extra practice to full curriculum. Best of all, there are materials for all ages in your home.
We focused on the big kid materials aka middle and high school. Check out what other homeschoolers thought for all grade levels by clicking the banner below.
Happy Homeschooling!

It has so much! I really like this site.
