Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.
As the new school year began, our family had a lot of new curriculum and resources we were trying out. For instance, we had a new curriculum for our history and Bible studies this year. As I was planning it out, a review came up from the Homeschool Review Crew. It was from Teach Sunday School, and I knew it would fit in with my plans for our history and Bible time. The product was Bible study printables called Bible Breakdowns. I downloaded our printables and were ready to go.
I’ll share a little about what Book-By-Book Bible Breakdowns are and how we’ve used them in our home. You can see what you think and if it will be a good fit for your family too.
What are Bible Breakdowns?
Well, Teach Sunday School created a collection of Bible study printables called Bible Breakdowns. These are one-page sheets for each book of the Bible for both the Old and New Testaments. Well, with one exception. The Book of Matthew is long, so it is covered over two pages.
Each beautifully colored sheet starts with a summary of the book. It is a short summary that shares a little bit of information to keep in mind about this book of the Bible.
Next, it highlights five key things:
- Number of Chapters
- Type (such as prophecy, history, etc.)
- Date Written
- Period Covered
- Author
After that, you get to the Breakdowns. In this section, The book, chapter, and verses are listed out for you. Beside each one is a short statement about the subject of that particular chapter and verse (or verses). You will also notice that some of the chapters and verses are highlighted in a pretty blue color. This marks which verses contain classic Bible stories.
Finally, the Bible study printables end with the Most Popular Verses. Here you find a list of the most popular verses for this book and how they rank overall.
Each of the Bible Breakdowns sheets is colorful and nicely laid out. In addition, the printables give a good overview of each book, so it is easy to skim through and see the highlights of this section.
With these printable Bible study sheets, you can easily print what you want and have an excellent overview as you work your way through the Bible. However, if you want, you can print them all out at once and put them in a binder for you and your kids.
How We Used These Bible Study Printables
We used these Bible study printables in a couple of ways in our home. First, I used these with our Bible study portion of our history program. I printed off the Genesis sheet and tucked it into our history binder. Then, as we worked our way through the book of Genesis, I checked off the chapters and verses we covered on our sheet. It gave my kiddos a good visual as we progressed through our studies.
As of right now, we are about halfway through the Book of Genesis. I really like that the kids can look back at this sheet and quickly review what was covered so far. They can also easily find what chapter and verse covers a particular subject. This is particularly helpful when they are working on their research reports and projects in history.
Now the second way I used these Bible study printables was in my own Bible study. I used the printable for the Book of Habakkuk. I tucked this sheet away in my personal Bible study materials as a reference sheet. For me, I like the quick subject listed beside each chapter and verse. It helps me to find the verses I am looking for quickly. Sometimes I want to refer back to a passage, and these sheets allow me to find things easily. As I work through other books in the Bible, I will continue to print off the sheets and use them in this way.
Overall Thoughts on the Bible Study Printables By Teach Sunday School
I think these sheets can be helpful for Bible study. They are nice, quick breakdowns of each book that make a great reference sheet.
These Bible Breakdowns are great for teens and adults working independently through a particular book of the Bible. You can check off what you’ve completed, see what you’ve covered, and find your favorite verses or Bible stories quickly.
However, I’m sure younger kids would also love to check off each chapter and verse as they progress in their family Bible time. It gives a sense of accomplishment, and they can see how much more they will be covering.
Plus, I love pretty printables, and these are so pretty and colorful. I didn’t find the color distracting and felt it helped to enhance each sheet.
