If you are looking for a way to make the stories of the Bible exciting for your kids, you need to check out the audio dramas by The Adventum. We had the pleasure of reviewing The Adventum, Volume 1, over the past month, and it was something my kids and I looked forward to, whether at home or in the car. So let me share a little about this product.
What is The Adventum, Volume 1?
The Adventum, Volume 1, contains 20 stories from the Bible. They use exciting sound effects, music, and actors who bring the Bible’s stories alive. It is impressive to listen to!
For this review, I received physical CDs of The Adventum, Volume 1. The CDs came in a sturdy hard cover case with pockets for each CD. I have no doubt that the case will hold up and protect the CDs. You can purchase these audio dramas in digital format too.
The Adventum, Volume 1, comes with 4 CDs with 5 Bible stories on each disc. This volume starts with “It was Good” (creation) and ends with “Playing Favorites” (Jacob receives Isaac’s Blessing).
The Bible stories are not very long. Most are about 10-15 minutes (some shorter) and no longer than 30 minutes. This audio drama drew us in from the start, so we never realized the length of each story.
Stories of the Bible for the Whole Family
When asked to do this review, I decided to get physical CDs of the Bible stories. We live in a rural area, so we often have car rides of 30+ minutes wherever we go. Our car still has a CD player, so we could pop a CD in the car while running errands or doing different activities.
The first time we decided to listen to the CDs, we had a 2-hour drive. We knew these were audio dramas on the stories of the Bible, but we hadn’t imagined fully what that meant. I wish you could have seen our reaction when the music started, the sound effects boomed, and the voice of God filled the car. We were in utter shock.
Our first impression was it was just like being in a movie theatre listening to the movie’s opening, like Star Wars. It was the first image that popped into my mind, and my daughter’s, when we heard it. It was very dramatic.
From that point on, we were hooked.
We listened to most of the first CD in the car that day. After that, we often listened to multiple stories at a time. We’d finish a story, and my kids would say, “Well, we could listen to another one,” and we did. It didn’t take long to get through the CDs.
We hadn’t even completed the first CD, and my daughter asked if there were more volumes because she wanted to get them all. By the way, there are 4 volumes in all.
My 15-year-old daughter and I listened to these CDs during the review period. My 13-year-old son had a busy schedule and only listened to about half. Though, he did enjoy listening to these Bible stories.
For us, these dramatic stories of the Bible helped reinforce (and bring to life) what we studied this year. We learned about ancient history the past school year, and the kids enjoyed hearing these Bible stories. The actors brought the people to life, and the sounds of things like bleating sheep and people working in the background made it realistic and engaging.
