I am a busy mom, as I am sure you are too. I like it when I find something that makes my life a little easier. Who doesn’t?! Well, SchoolhouseTeachers.com has an Ultimate PreK-12 Annual Membership that has made homeschooling easier for me with its online classes. Oh, and more enjoyable for my kids.

What is SchoolhouseTeachers.com?

SchoolhouseTeachers is a complete homeschool curriculum. They provide online classes, videos, downloads, and printable materials for PreK-12. You will find core classes and electives for all grades for easy use with the whole family.

What I love is that SchoolhouseTeachers has even more than homeschool curriculum. You can find resources to help you, Mom and Dad, with all your homeschooling needs. They offer helpful videos, eBooks, planners, and more to help YOU as a parent and home educator.

So, now that I have given you a quick overview, I want to tell you a little more about some of the cool features and how we have been using them in our homeschool.

Online Classes at Your Fingertips

I have to say, SchoolhouseTeachers is spot on when they say it is the Ultimate PreK-12 Annual Membership. We have been using it for a year, and I do not want to homeschool without it. There are so many helpful homeschooling tools.

When you log in, you can search for online classes right away by grade level or subject, which is super helpful. You scroll through what they have to offer, click on what you want, and you can save it to a bookmark section. Bookmarks can be set up for each child. I love, love, love this option!!! It helps keep me organized.

Inside each online course, you’ll find lesson plans plus all the lesson materials. Sometimes a course has videos, Printable documents, or materials to download. Let me show you what I mean.

My 8th grader is taking the American Folklore course. Inside the course is detailed lesson plans. It gives a course schedule and what to teach each day.

For this course, my daughter reads the materials online, we get a couple of books out of the library, and we look up things online (mostly recipes). There are also interactive lessons if your child prefers, but my daughter does not.

All the courses come with detailed lesson plans and materials within the course. It makes teaching super easy.

School Boxes

Recently, School Boxes were added to the site. On the dashboard, click on the School Box section and your child’s grade level. Inside, you will find a year of courses mapped out for you. This is a fabulous option for people new to homeschooling or anyone who does not know where to start.  It is all planned for you.

I like to do my own planning, but the School Boxes are a great resource to look at. I got some ideas for different online courses to add to my two kiddos’ homeschooling.

Streaming Videos

Over the past year, I had not looked much into SchoolhouseTeachers’ streaming videos. I decided to take a peek at this review. I am glad I did. We ended up finding some fun resources to use.

Drive Thru History

In our homeschool, we have been studying Ancient Greece. Fortunately for us, SchoolhouseTeachers has a collection of Drive Thru History videos. They are interesting and fun videos that bring kids to historic locations and teach them all about them.

We watched Drive Thru History: Ancient Greece parts 1 and 2. My kids were drawn in after the first few minutes. They look forward to these videos. It is definitely one of their favorite online classes. We have traveled to ancient sites in Greece and learned the history.

One fun thing we learned in the Drive Thru History videos was an interesting tidbit about the location of the Temple of Delphi. There may have been a reason for the Oracle’s strange behavior. I will let you watch it for yourself and find out what it was. We were quite intrigued.

The Christmas Story

Since it was Christmastime and I wanted to add in some Christmas fun, I went in the Christmas Section on SchoolhouseTeachers and found a video, The Christmas Story. It was a nice video on the story of Christmas told through beautiful songs. It was a nice addition to our holiday learning.

While browsing, I found other videos for Christmas. My kids are in 6th and 8th grade, so we found videos for the family to watch together. However, there were many videos younger kids would enjoy.

Drawing with Realism Online Class

Also in the video streaming section was a series of online art classes. I decided to try out the Drawing with Realism online class for myself.

My intention was to preview it to see if my daughter would like the class. I ended up working on the class myself! The video lessons are great, support materials are provided (color wheel and image), and you can pause and replay.

Here is the apple project I am working on in the Drawing with Realism course.

Not quite finished yet.

I am really enjoying the online class, and I will incorporate the videos into our homeschool.

Overall Thoughts of SchoolhouseTeachers Online Classes

I love incorporating SchoolhouseTeachers.com into our homeschool. My middle schoolers use many academic classes for reading, writing, and health. We also use many of their electives, like filmmaking and guitar.

Overall, we use SchoolhouseTeachers to supplement our homeschool. However, you could easily purchase the annual membership and use it solely as your homeschool curriculum.

It has taken me a year, but I have figured out I can enjoy some classes just for me. I enjoy the art class and have set my eyes on the Editing Photos class and Photography. Why should my kids have all the fun?!

Actually, there is A LOT for parents. There are monthly meal plans, parenting and homeschool eBooks, and videos to help you as a homeschool parent. Plus, there are planners, grading and transcript programs, and so much more.
