When fall arrives, so do all the cute fall activities for the little ones. But many families have a wide range of ages in their homes. Or others are like me that only have teens left. So, I began making a list of fun fall activities for teens (and tweens). After all, they deserve to have some fun as autumn arrives.

Fall Activities for Teens: Outdoor Fun
So, our big kids may not appreciate jumping in leaf piles anymore (They’re too cool, right?). However, there are still fall outdoor activities our teens may enjoy.
Corn Mazes
Oh, boy! Corn mazes can be such a fun fall activity for teens, not to mention a challenge. Teens are sure to love going through them. It’s even more fun when they can take the lead and try and get the family through it. In our area, we have a farm that does a night corn maze, which adds an even bigger element of excitement.
Apple Picking and Pumpkin Patches
I think apple picking and exploring pumpkin patches for the right pumpkin are fun for ANY age. Plus, there is the fun AFTER picking apples and pumpkins. You can make yummy fall treats, and, of course, there is pumpkin carving.
Fall Hikes
Fall hikes are a great fall activity for teens. It is usually cooler weather, so kids complain less about how hot it is. Plus, you can check out all the beautiful fall colors and watch the animals scurry around, getting ready for fall.
Make Scarecrows and Other Outdoor Fall Decorations
As you think about decorating the house for fall, consider getting your teen involved. They can make scarecrows with raked-up leaves, cornstalk decorations for the porch or mailbox posts, or a fall wreath to hang on the door. Maybe they can use some pumpkins from the pumpkin patch to decorate around the yard.
Want to have even more fun with scarecrows?!
Here is a super fun scarecrow STEM activity that is PERFECT for the teens! They will have so much fun they won’t mind if they are doing something educational.
Campfires and Bonfires
Cool fall nights are perfect for sitting around the fire. The nights are cold, the evening gets darker much sooner than summer, and you don’t have to worry about bugs.
If you have a lot of debris from yard clean-up, a bonfire can be a lot of fun. Though, a small campfire works just as well.
Get out the marshmallows or try a nice campfire treat! I remember a fall campout eating an apple crisp cooked in the dutch oven. Mmmm. It was soooo good and warm in the belly. Pinterest has so many great campfire desserts!
Fall Arts and Crafts for Teens
Arts and crafts are such a great fall activity for teens. They can make cute fall décor and little gifts for others while having fun with mom (or dad) if you all do it together.
Fabulous Fall Crafts for Teens (Big Family Blessings)- There are so many great craft ideas for teens here. You have lots of fall décor crafts like wreaths, pumpkin crafts, woodland creature planters, and so much more. I really love the ideas on this site.
25 Fun Fall Crafts for Adults and Kids (The Frugal Gals)- Here, you will find ideas with mason jars, fall-scented body scrubs, cookie jar mixes, and more. They are doable for teens, and moms will enjoy them too.
Fall Canvas Paintings (Step by Step Painting)- I LOVE this acrylic painting site! My kids and I find painting tutorials here all the time. Tracie does an outstanding job teaching to paint wonderful fall paintings. If you have teens who love to paint, you will find a great fall painting project to tackle.
Don’t worry. This site provides templates (like for the truck below) and very detailed written and video instructions. You don’t have to be an artist to do these projects.
Fall Art Projects for Older Kids (The Secret Life of Homeschoolers)- I did a round-up of different fall art projects that older kids would enjoy a few years ago. Take a look. You can find clay projects, painting ideas, and marker projects too. It was intended for tweens at the time, but many would be fun for teens too.
Fall Op Art (The Secret Life of Homeschoolers)- Op Art stands for optical illusion art. This tutorial will provide simple steps for creating op art fall leaves. There are so many ways teens can create their own unique op art.
Fall Activities for Teens: Cooking and Baking
Autumn has all those wonderful fall flavors and comfort meals. Cooking with others is a great way to bond and have fun, making this a perfect fall activity for teens and families to do together.
24 Best Fall Recipes (Insanely Good) I love the variety of fall recipes you can find in this one place. You’ll find drinks, desserts, main dishes, and sides that use apple, pumpkin, squash, cranberries, and other fall flavors. I should warn there is one recipe that is an alcoholic drink. Obviously, I don’t intend for you to make this with your teens. However, the rest of the recipes are great opportunities for you to work with your teen on some cooking skills.
25 Best Fall Desserts {+ Easy Recipes} (Insanely Good)- I guess Kim at Insanely Good and I have similar tastes. I love the different dessert recipes on this site. I’m sure your teens will agree this is a great fall activity.
I find that many kids may not want to cook meals but are often willing to help with desserts. My son is one of them. You’ll find some great apple, pumpkin, and other yummy fall-inspired flavors in this list.
If you want to help your kiddos with cooking skills, I have some things that might help you. First, check out Basic Cooking Skills Your Kids Need. Second, you might like Working on Cooking with Teens, which takes basic cooking skills a little further.
