Spring is sometimes a tough time during the school year. Spring fever sets in. You want to get outside because it is FINALLY getting warm, and the end of the school year is in sight. Therefore, it is a great time to take advantage of the excitement of spring with some spring writing prompts.
Spring writing prompts are a fun way to use the kids’ excitement for the season to change up your writing program. We often do spring cleaning to freshen up our homes, so why not freshen up our writing with something a little different?
Using Writing Prompts With Kids
Writing prompts can be used in different ways in your homeschool or classroom. Look at what your student’s needs are at the time and what you want the kids to get out of it.
Assign a Prompt
One way to use prompts is to assign your kids a specific one. This is great when you want your kids to practice writing on demand. It is also helpful if you want kids to use a particular type of writing, such as narrative or persuasive writing.
Free Choice
Another way to use writing prompts is to give the kids free choices. Give them the list and let them choose what they want to write about. Some kids love having choices. Others may not. You can always narrow it down to a few choices for those kids.
