Summer is coming to end. Sigh. I am a person that is powered by three things: coffee, sunshine, and warm temperatures. Alas, I will have to resort to more coffee for warmth. Maybe pumpkin coffee. I know Maine is probably not the best place to live if I want warmth.
Autumn is a beautiful time of year, though. The trees are colorful, and there are wonderful flavors in the fall. There are fun activities like apple and pumpkin picking, hayrides, jumping in leaves, and baking. With it also comes fun art projects for the kids that we can incorporate into our homeschool art time.
My kids are getting older. Luckily, more people are posting art projects for older elementary kids and not just toddlers and preschoolers. We have found some really cool projects we have tried and a bunch we would love to do this year. My Pinterest site has some fun ideas. Below are a few of them. Click on each item to see full instructions on how to make each one.
10 Fall Art Projects
Bonus Fall Art Project
I have one last fall art project to share, making it 11 projects in all. This last project is a Fall Op Art project. Op art is optical illusion art. With this fall project, kids create an optical illusion with fall leaf shapes. Give it a try!
Why I Like These Projects
I love the variety! The projects include working with paints, clay, crayons, markers, oil pastels, and pencils. The kids learn different techniques with different materials and allow them to try new things.
My kids were obsessed with oil pastels, so we learned how to use them. I even joined in with the Moonlit Pumpkin project. It was so much fun learning to smudge and blend colors and how to play with lighting in pictures. We did several versions of this project.
Fall has so many cool art projects and rich colors. It makes it a fun time of year to try new art ideas.
What are some of your favorite art projects you like to do with your kids? I’d love to hear them.
