Thanksgiving week is pretty short. Some people take the whole week off from schooling. While others go until Tuesday or Wednesday. No matter what your family does, adding in some Thanksgiving worksheets is a way to add in some fun in your homeschool.

Thanksgiving Worksheets for Kids

To help you out this holiday season, I’ve made a few Thanksgiving worksheets. When my kids were little and even when I was a teacher, around Thanksgiving time, I’d start looking for mazes, word searches, coloring sheets, and more.

Kids of all ages like to take a little break from their regular schoolwork as holidays get closer. They are excited and adding in some fun worksheets adds to the festive time.

In this packet, you will find a few different worksheets.

  1. Word Searches- I have two choices depending on your children’s ability levels.
  2. Maze- I gave a colored and black and white option.
  3. Color-by-Number- It is a simple coloring page great for helping young ones learn numbers or colors. Older kiddos may just enjoy coloring.
  4. I-Spy- I spy a turkey, a pilgrim, a pumpkin, etc. The goal is to find 5 of each object.

So, in this packet, you find a few fun Thanksgiving worksheets for your kids to enjoy.

How Are These Worksheets Educational?

First off, there is some educational value in these simple activities. Whether it is the word search, maze, color-by-number, or I-Spy, kids are working on visual skills. They are searching for letters, numbers, pictures, and open paths.

Second, word searches help with spelling, reading, and letter identification skills. Kids learn to pay attention to letter order in a word and search for combinations among other letters. All of this helps build spelling and reading skills.

When it comes to color-by-number sheets, kids work on number recognition, following directions, and colors (whether identifying colors OR reading color names). Plus, coloring helps build fine motor skills, the muscles used in our fingers and hands.

Mazes are great for helping kids work on spatial skills, working memory, reasoning, and memory. Who knew?!

Lastly, I-Spy worksheets also help with educational skills. Kids learn to visually discriminate objects from others. This helps with reading skills. After all, while reading, kids are picking out letters and words on a page to help make meaning.

Even if it seems like these are just fun worksheets, they are so much more. Kids can benefit from these activities to help them in different academic areas.
