I love finding fun things to do with kids, whether as a mom or when I was a teacher. I think kids of all ages should have something fun to do during the holidays. So, I made some cute DIY paper boxes for kids to make. Plus, I made them holiday and birthday themes.
These little DIY paper boxes are super easy to make. All you need to do is color and decorate them however you want, cut them out, and glue the tabs. That’s it!
Now, if your kiddos are too little to color these boxes, don’t worry! These are perfect for moms and dads to use as little gift/treat boxes for kids.

Putting These DIY Paper Boxes Together
As I said, these paper boxes are super simple to make.
STEP 1- Print
You can print them on regular or cardstock paper. Cardstock paper is more durable and will hold up better. However, I printed mine on regular copy paper, and it held some candies fine, though I’m not as rough as little kids.
STEP 2- Color
You can color these paper boxes with crayons, colored pencils, or markers. If you really want to, you can add stickers, stamps, sequins, glitter, or any other craft items you have on hand.
STEP 3- Cut
Cut on all the SOLID black lines.
STEP 4- Fold
Fold back on all the dotted lines. This gives you the folds to form your cube and the tabs you will glue.
STEP 5- Glue
I’m sure once you start folding on all the dotted lines, the box quickly begins to take shape. Next, add glue to the tabs and glue the box together.
I made sure to put Happy Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc., to mark the lid for you. Don’t glue these tabs. If you do, you won’t be able to put things in your box.
Viola! Your DIY paper boxes are ready to use.

You may wonder how you can use this to get kids involved in holiday celebrations. Here are some suggestions.
- For Thanksgiving or Christmas, your kiddos can make these paper boxes, fill them with treats or confetti, and set them on the table for simple decorations. It is one way they can help with Thanksgiving preparations or sprucing up the Christmas table.
- Kiddos can make them for little candy boxes on Halloween, Valentine’s Day, or even their birthday party. They can be little treat boxes for family and friends.
